Fortune Williams Music Festival 2010

The 8th Annual Fortune Williams Music Festival schedule is ready. The dates are September 24th and 25th, 2010 at the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton, VA.

Friday's songwriter's show (September 24, 2010) will feature Don Schlitz and Rivers Rutherford. Don's legendary songs include "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers, "On The Other Hand" by Randy Travis and "When You Say Nothing At All" which has been recorded by several artists. River's most popular songs are "Ain't Nothing ‘Bout You" by Brooks and Dunn, "Real Good Man" by Tim McGraw and "When I Get To Where I'm Going" by Brad Paisley. This show is $35.00 and includes a reception with the writers.

Saturday's lineup of course has full shows by Jimmy Fortune and Robin and Linda Williams. Performing Saturday afternoon is Darrell Scott, a Grammy nominated songwriter, who's songs have been recorded by the Dixie Chicks, Suzy Bogguss, Faith Hill, and Garth Brooks. He is also one of Nashville's premier session instrumentalists and is currently touring with Robert Plant and the Band of Joy. Saturday's artists also include Jimmy Gaudreau and Moondi Klein, both former members of the group Chesapeake, who recently toured with Emmylou Harris. The last show of the day will be Patty Loveless, who has charted more than forty singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including five number ones. Tickets for this day will be $45.00 reserved and $35.00 lawn seating.

Public tickets will go on sale on July 19, 2010 at 10am Eastern time. Office hours are 10am -5pm, weekdays. You may order at the Frontier Culture Museum or call them at (540) 332-7850. CMA Hall Of Fame Exhibit

The Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville honored the Statler Brothers with special exhibit on June 30, 2010. The 30 foot glass case, which includes photos, stage suits, and sound equipment will be on display until May 2011.

"Hero Coming Home" Recognized At Pentagon

A Nashville, Tennessee, group of noted songwriters (Dave Clark, Jimmy Fortune, and Bria Slaughter) have written a song and produced a touching video that was played during the Pentagon National Prayer Breakfast on May 26 in Washington, D.C. The featured song is entitled, "Hero Coming Home," and depicts the lives of soldiers and the impact on their families. The video showcases true military families and concludes with moving footage of soldiers returning home from war. Clark, Fortune, and Slaughter traveled to the Pentagon where the video was recognized by the Pentagon Chaplain Daniel J. Minjares, and played for a room full of dignitaries.
