Eddie, we really hate to hear that Rose's cancer is back. I haven't had time the last almost 2 months to get on here. My son and his wife are getting a divorce and he moved in with us. At least he got to see a Jimmy show with us for the first time in 10 years or more. Well enough about us. Give Rose a hug from us and we send our love and prayers to both of you.

Thank you for your offer of prayers. Prayers can come in any form or any faith. God hears everyone's prayers. Just knowing that all of you are praying for her has helped her immensely. I will keep you all posted.

Rose has completed her radiation treatments - 12 in all. She lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks but she just wasn't eating. The side effects of the radiation had given her nausea. But she's trying to deal with it and her appetite has improved and she's eating again but in limited amounts depending on her ability to swallow, nausea, pain in her mouth from sores. She is trying and I'm hoping to see a weight gain when we go back on the 22nd. We have an appointment tomorrow with the Radiation doctor to determine what the discomfort in her mouth is. She has to have a portacath so she can start chemo - not sure what that is all about. I think the chemo will start in March. Luckily she finished the radiation just before we got hit with another snow storm. I just dug out the car. We've had 70 inches this winter and the winter is not even over. I appreciate all the emails, IMs and cards. She loves you guys very much.

Tell her we love her too, and we are all, I'm sure, praying for both of you every day.

Eddie,
I'm so glad to hear that Rose's appetite is picking up.
I'm so glad to hear that Rose's appetite is picking up. I know its hard for her and you.
A portcath is where the Dr. makes an incision around the collarbone area and inserts a catheter so that the chemo she will be taking will be easier on her. The Drs. won't have to look for a vein each time she goes in. It makes delivery easier and it will be something that the Drs. leave in so if she ever has to go to the hospital for something different, all she will have to do is say she has a port and show them where. None of that awful poking around. She will be prepared.
