Today is officially my last day of work, even though I won't be showing up.

It all started in a little town called Yuk when the charge clerk of the clinic I was working came in with a huge chip on her shoulder.  I had to work late for the three days before New Years to make sure her clinic was together and she had all her supplies.  Why you ask?  She didn't check her master schedule so she could work on it before she left on vacation.  It wasn't brain surgery.  Each clerk charged a clinic on the same day every month.  It was your responsibility to have it ready, right down to the last chart.  That meant that you had to get up from your desk and couldn't talk to your husband, sister, mother or anyone else all day.

The clinic was to start at 7:45am, but didn't start until 8:15am.  She was once again late.  Then she started having a temper tantrum to top it off. Cabinet doors were slammed.  Desk drawers were kicked closed.  Patients trying to check in and she wasn't at the front counter.  I looked up, handed the supervisor the chart I was working on and said I was gone.  Grabbed my stuff and left.  Haven't been back since.

Now they are having huge layoff's.  One round has already happened and the next is supposed to happen on March 15.

I love being home and working around the house.  Mike is crazy happy about it.  That means his tummy is always full and I'm not so stressed that the most basic of housework does't get done.

Good for you Billie!  Maybe your move will inspire (hopefully) some of the top dogs there to take a better look at how things are supposed to run.  Tell Mike howdy, and I will see y'all in September. Smiley Smiley

Billie, glad to know you took a stand and are also benefiting through it.  Guess the name of the town influenced you too!

Good for you. When it's time to go, you knew when to go. I did the same thing after 13 years.

Wish I had the same attitude sometimes ;-)  I started working part time starting today.  I love my job, but I just cant take the high school BS anymore and working my tail off and others not doing anything and getting by with it.  Gonna love being able to have a life again. Sometimes the difference in take home pay just doesnt justify the stress and hassle.  Going to AR to the BB again???

You just don't know how good it feels to not put up with the mess.  I had a Drs appointment today and she couldn't believe I actually had color in my pale white skin.

I received a hefty raise in Oct. but it wasn't enough to put up with temper tantrums, poor customer service, patients waiting outside my door wanting to see me because they knew they would get the help they needed.  I got in trouble because they would take the chairs from the lobby, place them in the hall and wait until I could see them.  The bosses were upset that there were so many that it made it hard to walk and that I had other things to do and was late sometimes with it.  Maybe I was out of line, but I told them I would give everyone in the building lessons in customer service.  I was then run through the wringer about giving customer service when an email comes out telling us we have to give better service.

Guess my work ethics are different but I have always tried to give everyone individual attention, listen and try to find the service they needed.  These are people who have nothing and need medical help.

Krissyann, I don't think Mike and I will be going to AR this year.  We paid for our daughter's honeymoon, up there, and we gave them the deluxe room for a week.  If Mike has his surgery, later on, we might get there because he wants to go there to recover just like I did and my sister is ready to pack her bags and head to Mountain Thyme also.

Talk it over with Stephen to see if you can leave the job.  If you aren't bringing home more pay than you have work expenses it might be worth it.

I am so darned proud of you, Billie.  It is time you let the rest of the world know that you are a princess and deserve to be treated better!  Tell them all that Pam said so!  Can't wait to see you with your beautiful rested face!

Rested? I don't think I've rested since I walked out that door.  I have so much to do to keep me busy at home that it isn't even funny.  Mike actually told my daughter and son-in-law to find me a new job that I was wearing him out.  See if I serve him the roast beef, carrots, potatos, gravy and salad that I am preparing for him for dinner.
